My "Twelve" Days of Christmas

Saturday: One SUPER cranky toddler

Sunday: Two whiny kids and tons of "runny" diapers

Monday: Two rounds of throw up and one call to Subfinder

Tuesday: Sub plans at 6:00am, lots of poopy diapers, one cranky toddler, baby down at 4:00pm and didn't wake up until 7:00 the NEXT morning.

Wednesday: Sick kid at the sitter's,trying to find the daddy (he was at a workshop) half day sub plans, super cranky boy, call from the daycare center for Hannah (her ear), call to the dr, they had no appointments, off to Urgent Care, diagnosis: ear infection, no school until FRI, off to CVS for RXs, back home to whiny boy, fought to give the meds to the girl, 7:00pm SUB plans...

Thursday: Middle of the night wake up, off to run errands, call from the sitter: super cranky boy, call back to the dr, another dr appointment which Andrew SCREAMED the entire time, diagnosis: ANOTHER ear infection, off to CVS for RXs, baby throws up his entire first dose of Zythromax, call to after hours nurse, no more meds tonight and call dr in the am...

Friday: Back to work I go. The boy stays home w/ the Daddy and is finally able to eat and be happy. Back to get another RX from CVS and this time he kept it down.

Honestly, I don't think I could make it 12 days if THIS kept up! Luckily, it seems we are on the mend.

Hannah even ran in the Jingle Bell jog w/ me. She would have come in 3rd for Pre-K (but this tired mommy left her label at home!) Oh, she was happy to get her green ribbon. She even saw her school librarian running the race and waved real big at her. We got a balloon flower and even sat on Santa's lap.

Andrew is MUCH happier. He is eating EVERYTHING in sight and is back to playing/aggravating her all at the same time.

My kids at school have hardly seen me at all. Hopefully, this week will be "normal" as it can be.

Good thing it didn't happen this week as we are going to the Lodge, Great Wolf Lodge (howl...) w/ my side of the family. It is our Christmas celebration and I know they would have been sad to miss as would the Daddy and I!

Here is the boy in his new "George" jammies and back to that happy face.

Here is Hannah and Cameron at the Jingle Bell "Walk" as she called it. It was SOOOO cold and windy but we had fun.

Here's to a very HEALTHY week for us all....

Our First Christmas Tree

I dug this up today while we were getting out our Christmas decorations and decorating our "FAKE" tree. This was our first "REAL" Christmas tree with the video taken with my first video camera.

Music to My Ears!

After working a long 12 hour day (conference time + sub plans= ONE long day), I come and open the door to find my two little monkeys jumping on the couch.

Hannah starts shouting, "Momma, momma" like she normally does. Mr. Andrew comes RUNNING around the couch saying for the first time super clear: Momma! Momma!

Man, what a sweet, sweet sound and a nice way to end a very LONG day!

The Bug is Back

It is most definitely that time of year again. We are battling that yucky stomach bug that is going around. Hannah went home early last WED. She felt better the next day.

Andrew started on WED and is still going strong. Hoping for not a repeat of last May's trip to the ER, we have been trying desperately to keep something in him.

He is fine for a bit until he wants something to eat. Then it comes right back up. The daddy stayed home with him on WED. He seemed better yesterday so back to school we all went. This morning we had a lovely repeat of WED morning (Why does it ALWAYS happen in MY car?).

Off to make sub plans he went with me. He whimpered the WHOLE time until one of my boys pulled out a dinosaur book. Man, he was in heaven! He thought it was so neat. Braeden of course was worried that Andrew would throw up on it, but nonetheless shared the book with him.

He slept pretty good and has only thrown up a few more times. In between sleep, yucky diapers, and throwing up, he seems to feel pretty good.

I chatted with both the nurse and doctor today. I am pretty sure we will be able to keep him out of the ER this time. I have even gotten some Pedialyte down him.

Keeping our fingers crossed that this will all be over by the start of the new week. I have Parent/Teacher conferences to get ready for and plus I am running out of days!

Goin' Green Once Again...

No, we aren't talking saving the planet. Not that I don't think we need. I do my fair share of recycling, conserving, reusing, etc... Just ask Ricky.

No, goin' green is referring to our lovely little preschooler. It seems the girl who LOVES big school and was doing so well has "lost" her way.

For the past 2 weeks we have seen MANY yellows and yes, the dreaded RED! The big problem: not napping and talking during nap. She is also getting a little attitude with her teachers.

On Wednesday after her RED day I told her that if she didn't get green the next day ALL of her Barbies were going bye-bye. Well, we didn't get Red... but we didn't get green either.

Up went the Barbies. None of her music in the car. No TV. We were trying it all.

Last night we made a Hannah's Happy Days chart. For every green day we have, we get a flower. When 5 days are green, we get a little surprise.

Hannah was soooo excited about her chart. She even told me this morning, "I am going to stay on green ALL day!". Which of course, she has been telling me every morning for the past 2 weeks.

This afternoon I reluctantly got in the car to go get her. Not knowing what I would find made me a little nervous.

The verdict: a GREEN day! She took a nap and didn't throw one fit all day. She was so proud of herself. She got a sticker for her chart, a trip to play at McDs, and we even painted her fingers.

I think I have figured out what the problem was though. It seems she is a little like her mommy when it comes to food. If she is hungry, she is cranky! I know... "Get the cheese" as my family use to tease me.

Anyway, the breakfast we would send her would go uneaten because she wanted to play when she got to school. If she got in trouble before lunch, she would dump her lunch and not even eat it.

So today we sat down and ate oatmeal at home complete with a glass of milk. Hopefully, this will be a long term solution.

She was even playing with toys and asking her unicorn what kind of day she had! Too funny!

Happy Halloween!

Andrew was a sock monkey and Hannah was a mermaid. We went to Truck-or-Treat early in the evening and had a blast playing the little games and getting candy. Andrew loved anything that had a "ball" Hannah is afraid of dogs, but Andrew runs right up to them. He kept chasing this dog all around the parking lot.

After Trunk-or-Treat we went home to pass out candy. I think Hannah had more fun doing that than she did walking around the neighborhood.

Happy 4th Birthday, Hannah Grace!

Wow! Has it BEEN four years since we started this journey into parenthood? At times it seems like AGES but when I look back it all has gone by in the blink of an eye.

Hannah has finally turned her attention off of Dora and onto something new: MERMAIDS! She is an Ariel fanatic! The other day the TV asked her (and the rest of America) what she wanted to be when she grew up and she turned and looked at me (very seriously) and said, "I want to be a MERMAID!".

She sings her "haunting" mermaid song throughout the house. It almost sounds like she is pain, but in her eyes it just like ARIEL's majestic voice. It is soooo funny!

She is enjoying big school. She has mostly good days. Here lately she has decided that napping isn't all that fun, but calling out your friends' names DURING naptime is soooo much better. She loves playing with all her friends and is learning lots.

She entertains herself for HOURS with anything and everything and loves to sing and dance.

We finally turned the corner this summer on potty training. She officially became a big girl this summer. I know, I know... Many say "Um, well, she IS almost 4." However, I tried EVERY trick in the book and she was really a determined Missy to do just quite the opposite since it wasn't her idea at all. Once she decided it was time, she didn't look back.

She loves to run and play with Andrew. They chase each other back and forth. She can be a great help with him and I even think she has forgotten that she really wanted a SISTER. The way they both giggle when they play is just music to my ears. Now don't get me wrong. He SURE knows how to make her squeal and that makes HIM giggle every time he does it.

She is definitely hitting the I am 4 stage with TONS of questions. She loves to read books at night. She goes to children's church on Sundays with the big kids.

On another note she is FINALLY 30 pounds and big enough for a booster. She can't WAIT to get it. She wants one with flowers. At this rate she will be able to take off the back part by the time first grade gets here! It may be 3rd grade though before we can kiss the booster goodbye. My dainty little kids!

Here's is to another year older, Miss Hannah Montana Banana (as Ms. Janetta lovingly refers to her as). We can't wait to see what this next year holds for you.

Boo Boo Alert

Yep, I get the call on FRI afternoon from the nurse at Hannah's school that she had fallen on the playground. She said she was fine but had a pretty good bruise on her cheek.

I ran off to get her thinking she would be hysterical (she can be so DRAMA sometimes) but she was fine. She had a little bump on her cheek and a Boo Boo Report in her cubby.

She told me she fell off the swing during recess. She even ran to get her "report" to show me.

Fast forward to a few days later. The little bump turned in to an UGLY black eye just in time for her birthday party on SUN at Sunshine Glaze. She looks like the dog on the Little Rascals. It is too funny. People are always asking her who she got in a fight with.

Here she is today. It is looking better, but it still looks like a bad makeup job from the 80's. I guess the good news is that it took her almost 4 years to get something like this. Now Andrew, I am sure he won't wait THAT long!

Pumpkin Patch 2008

We got up early this morning and headed to the Saginaw Pumpkin Patch. It was pretty difficult to get any “still” shots as Andrew wasn’t too keen on sitting still.

Mommy: “Hannah, what was your favorite part about the pumpkin patch?”

Hannah: “Pumpkins!”

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Indians...

Hannah was so excited to show me her little Indian outfit. "Miss Janetta called us little Indians, that's so silly Daddy," said Hannah. But I was told I couldn't sing the little Indian song, it was for Ms. Janetta's only (Miss Janetta is one of her Development Center teachers.) She even wanted to pose for this photo.

She was so sad at bath time because she wanted to keep her "stripes"

Reason #2,349 as to Why I Can't Keep the House Clean...

I was playing on the computer and someone was quiet, too quiet. I walked into the kitchen to find this. I'll give you one guess as to the culprit. At least getting the camera and taking a photo gives me some cool down time...

Big Shoes to Fill

Not that I've done anything great, like win the PGA Championship. I just have big feet. Andrew has just started digging in the shoe basket and getting out my shoes and trying them on.
